United can exploit tired Spurs, says Berbatov
LONDON â€¢ Manchester United must be ready to exploit any fatigue in the Tottenham Hotspur ranks when they meet in what former Bulgaria striker Dimitar Berbatov says is a "special" Premier League fixture at Wembley today.
United enjoyed a training break in Dubai last week while Tottenham's players were in action on Tuesday in an intense League Cup semi-final, first leg against London rivals Chelsea, grafting to a 1-0 win.
Tottenham's squad are also stretched by injuries and Berbatov says a buoyant United could pose a threat to Mauricio Pochettino's men.
"There may well be a bit of tiredness in the group and United need to use that to their advantage," the 37-year-old, who played for United and Spurs, said in an interview with Betfair.
"If they're clever and keep the ball, speeding up the game when possible and exploiting any space, they have a chance to defeat Tottenham. Both teams need to be clever."
Berbatov spent two seasons at Tottenham, scoring 27 league goals, before joining United in 2008, netting 48 league goals in his four seasons at Old Trafford.
He will be at Wembley today as Tottenham, 10 points above United in third place, look to inflict a first defeat on United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge on an interim basis after Jose Mourinho's sacking.

GOALS GALORE
There's so much attacking quality in both sides - Harry Kane, Anthony Martial, players who can score from nothing - that it's hard to see a clean sheet for either side.

"I'm going as a fan and I am really looking forward to seeing something special," Berbatov said.
"Given (United's) form, I'm surprised that the odds are so far apart with Spurs strong favourites.
"United have played so well under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, winning all five games across the league and FA Cup. They have entertained us and look so confident."
With both sides in rich attacking form - Tottenham have netted 15 times in their last four league games and United 14 - Berbatov expects a high-scoring game.
"A draw wouldn't be helpful for anyone here," he added. "Spurs need to stay close to the top of the table, and United fighting for that fourth spot.
"Ultimately, I do think we'll see goals for both sides. There's so much attacking quality in both sides - Harry Kane, Anthony Martial, players who can score from nothing - that it's hard to see a clean sheet for either side."
While Solskjaer's flying start has raised the possibility of him getting the United job full-time, Berbatov said a better time to judge him might be after the Spurs game.
"Ole's made a fine start at Old Trafford," he said. "But with all due respect to the teams they've played, this is their first serious test.
"Spurs are a great barometer of how far United have come under Ole."

LONDON â€¢ Christian Pulisic has said that he wants to make the same impact that Eden Hazard has had at Chelsea and hopes to play alongside the Belgium superstar at Stamford Bridge.
The US international signed a 5Â½-year contract with Maurizio Sarri's team in January but was immediately loaned backed to Germany to finish the season at Borussia Dortmund.
"It is incredible to see what Eden can do," attacking midfielder Pulisic, 20, told the BBC. "He (Hazard) is a guy to look up to and what I would love to become.
"It is definitely a goal. Any player would be dumb not to want to be in the same team as him."
But the Â£58 million (S$101.2 million) signing appears unlikely to get his wish, with the Chelsea star linked with a move to Real Madrid.
The Belgian forward said earlier this month that he has made a decision on his future. Any announcement of a deal with Real, however, is likely to be delayed until the conclusion of the Europa League final against Arsenal next Wednesday in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Pulisic, who scored four times in 20 league appearances last season as Dortmund finished second to Bayern Munich, said he wanted to inspire young American footballers.

Pulisic spent part of his childhood in England and relished the football culture.
"I soon realised how much people over here loved the game. To be in that culture and get thrown right in just grew my passion even more," he said.
"Every day after school I was on the court playing. I would go to games with my dad, including one at Chelsea. I don't remember how old I was but it would have been around the time Jose Mourinho was there.
"The fans were screaming and yelling. The atmosphere was fantastic. I had never seen anything like it."
Pulisic would likely have seen Petr Cech in action then and it was reported on Tuesday that the goalkeeper will return to the Blues as sporting director when he retires from playing after the Europa League final, according to Sky Sports and other British media.
The 37-year-old Arsenal goalkeeper responded to the reports by tweeting: "Despite the news today as I had already said to everybody before, I'll make (a) decision about my future after the last game. Now my sole focus is to win the EL with @Arsenal."
Chelsea were not immediately available to comment on the media reports.
Former Czech Republic international Cech, who won 124 caps, spent 11 seasons at Stamford Bridge, winning the Champions League and Europa League, four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and three League Cups before moving to the Gunners in 2015.
He had previously announced that he would retire from playing at the end of this season.

"We have good memories in this competition because we've had success in the past. It's a short competition and there's no room for mistakes. There's a semi-final and then the final... And we want to take the Cup home to Madrid."
If Real beat the Asian Football Confederation Champions League winners, they will face either South American champions River Plate or UAE side Al-Ain in Saturday's final. The two sides played the first semi-final early this morning (Singapore time).
Kashima are determined to make amends for their heartbreaking extra-time loss to Real on home soil two years ago.
"Last time in Japan, in the 2016 final, we made a great impact on a lot of people," said Kashima manager Go Oiwa, who was assistant to Masatada Ishii in the 2016 final.
"Against Madrid we really wanted to win, that's how we thought. Yes we lost, it was disappointing, but we now have a stage to show our disappointment.
"This match is going to get a lot of attention. We will try to play aggressively and show our own game from the beginning against Real.
"That's how we feel as we try to take the challenge to Real."

LONDON (AFP) - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp denied on Friday (Jan 11) that his Premier League leaders will have the upper hand over Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the title race despite a lighter schedule after crashing out of both domestic cup competitions.
City trail Klopp's men by four points, with Tottenham two points further back, but both of Liverpool's rivals are still involved in four competitions.
Klopp meanwhile made nine changes for Monday's 2-1 defeat at Wolves in the FA Cup, with his focus on ending the Reds' 29-year wait to win the title, and his team were knocked out of the League Cup by Chelsea back in September.
"There's no advantage. If you have all your players available, it's brilliant that you can always play them, it's really good," said Klopp ahead of Saturday's trip to Brighton.
"We have to use the time. You can do a lot of wrong things when you have a week to train, that's possible.
"We have to use the time and really be, week in and week out, in the best shape we can be."
Dejan Lovren was one of only two players Klopp retained against Wolves from a 2-1 defeat to City in their last Premier League outing, but the Croatian picked up a hamstring injury after just six minutes at Molineux.
Klopp now has a defensive crisis on his hands. Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have also been sidelined in recent weeks, but Matip may be fit in time to return against Brighton.
"It's quite special if you would bet on having three centre-halves injured in the same moment - you could win a lot of money for that because usually it doesn't happen.
"Here it happened, it was a bit of bad luck. That makes it quite a bit tricky."

LIVERPOOL INJURIES

Klopp reiterated his belief that Lovren's injury is a justification for why he was right to rest players such as Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino against Wolves after a hectic fixture list over the festive season.
"We had to make changes for the Wolves game. The players we didn't line up in that game were either a little bit injured, or injured, or played all the games in December, plus the City game at the beginning of January.
"Bringing them again in that moment, as you saw with Dejan, who played pretty much all these games as well, is a risk - it's a proper risk."
Defeat at City on Jan 3 was Liverpool's first in the league this season and Firmino stressed the importance of bouncing back immediately at Brighton to not give champions City another chance to cut the gap when they host Wolves on Monday.
"That's what the Premier League is all about - it's intensely competitive. If the team at the top stutters, the second place will overtake them," the Brazilian told Liverpool's website.
"We know we can't go to sleep and lose silly points. We must maintain our focus until the end of the season."

In six months, Hougang United have transformed themselves from wooden spoonists to dark horses for the Singapore Premier League (SPL) title.
The Cheetahs, beefed up by several key signings in the off-season, face an immediate test of their title credentials in their opener - five-time champions Tampines Rovers.
To boost a blunt forward line, which saw just 22 goals in 24 games last year, they have reunited Singapore international Faris Ramli and Croatian striker Stipe Plazibat.
The duo plundered 58 goals in all competitions for Home United in 2017 before spending last season abroad at separate clubs.
They have also brought in other Lions like Hafiz Abu Sujad and Afiq Yunos, and re-signed Zulfahmi Arifin after his one season with Thai side Chonburi.
The moves have had some touting Hougang as title contenders. It is quite a turnaround, considering that they were last in the nine-team SPL last year and have never finished in the top half of the league.

Goals Faris Ramli and Stipe Plazibat shared at Home United in 2017. They are reunited at Hougang this year.

Their best results were finishing runners-up in the League Cup in 2007 and 2011.
Head coach Clement Teo is confident of ending the barren run, saying: "Looking at the players we have, we know we can win silverware. But we are also aware that no games have been played yet.
"On paper, yes, we look fantastic and I have no doubt about my players' capabilities. What we need to do now is to get them to work together, on and off the field."

The club have failed to deliver on pre-season hype before.
In 2016, they signed the league's reigning Player of the Year Fumiya Kogure, only to end up sixth out of nine teams. A year later, they roped in Philippe Aw, who built a stylish Home United team over two seasons and brought with him two key men, Zulfahmi and Azhar Sairudin. Again, the Cheetahs finished sixth.
While Teo is bullish this year will be different, he expects a difficult start against Tampines, and terms his team firm underdogs for the tie.
Tampines, seen by some as favourites for the SPL crown, thrashed defending champions Albirex Niigata 4-0 in a friendly two weeks ago, and then won 3-1 at Myanmar league and Cup champions Yangon United in the AFC Cup last Tuesday.
Tampines' strongest XI are almost unchanged from last season. Hougang midfielder Fabian Kwok says that while this consistency is beneficial, he believes that Hougang are better equipped against strong teams this term.
"Last year, we had good players and were competitive in many games," said the 29-year-old, who has been with Hougang since 2017.
"But we lacked the experience, and often lost by one goal to the top teams. This year, we've signed players who are established and they bring that experience we need."
Plazibat, who scored 25 league goals in 22 games for Home in 2017, stressed that the best chance of victory today is through their strength as a unit.
"We are aware of our capabilities (as players) but individual players don't guarantee you anything, you need a team," said the 29-year-old.
"We are very serious about wanting to start the season on a high, because it will be very difficult later on if we don't collect points early.
"My target this season is to win (silverware) with the team. If I score many goals along the way, that's a bonus."

BARCELONA (AFP) - Lionel Messi scored for a ninth consecutive match, but his latest double on Saturday (Feb 2) was only enough to earn Barcelona a 2-2 draw against Valencia.
Kevin Gameiro and Dani Parejo's penalty gave Valencia a surprise two-goal lead but Messi pulled one back with his own spot-kick before curling in a brilliant equaliser with 26 minutes left.
After their stunning comeback against Sevilla in midweek, Barca looked destined to again finish the job, but Valencia held on for a point after a breathless contest at the Camp Nou.
Messi's 20th and 21st league goals of the season left Barca six points clear of Atletico Madrid, who could cut the gap to three by beating Real Betis on Sunday, with Real Madrid, 11 points back, at home to Alaves.
After eight consecutive Barcelona wins in La Liga, this result perhaps offered the chasing pack a little encouragement at the start of a testing month for the Catalans.
Real could inflict further disruption themselves. They play Barca in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals on Wednesday, in what will be the first of three Clasicos in a month. The latter two will be back-to-back, within four days.
But with Messi in this sort of form, any confidence from Real comes with an asterisk.
His 12 goals in his last nine games is the same number the whole Valencia squad managed in their first 15 league matches. Valencia were 15th in December, with only three wins, and their coach Marcelino was under pressure, just six months after propelling them back into the Champions League.
The club kept faith and results have improved. They have now lost only one of their last seven matches and are within sight of the top four.
Valencia deserved their first-half lead and could have scored sooner, Parejo drawing a smart save from Marc-Andre ter Stegen before Denis Cheryshev lashed the rebound off the far post.
The visitors rode their luck as two decisions went their way in a matter of minutes. First, Barca could have had a penalty when Gabriel Paulista blocked Nelson Semedo's shot with his hand.
Then the home team should have had a free-kick as Messi was bundled over by Parejo. The latter proved key, with Valencia sprawling forward on the counter-attack.
Rodrigo carried the ball 40 yards before slipping a cute reverse pass behind Vermaelen. Gameiro banged in the finish.
Valencia's penalty was clear after Sergi shoved Daniel Wass in the back, with Parejo whipping the ball into the corner to make it two.
Barca looked shell-shocked but the third goal in 15 minutes was theirs. Semedo beat Toni Lato to Arturo Vidal's pass and tumbled after a clip on his shin. Messi slammed the loose ball into the top corner but the whistle had blown. He rolled in the penalty instead.
Sergi's shot crashed against the post and Barca were dominant after half-time. Messi and Carles Alena had shots saved, and Messi headed over.
At the other end, on a rare Valencia break, Rodrigo should have made it three but, on the stretch, put it over from six yards.
That was in the 63rd minute, and in the 64th, Barcelona were level. Vidal teed up Messi, who teed up his own left foot and curled the ball inside the post.
The teams, and the crowd, seemed to take a breath, in anticipation of a late push, but it never came. The draw was a fair result.

Salah, 26, told Time that while his attitude towards gender equality had evolved over the years, he wanted to see more change.
"I think we need to change the way we treat women in our culture," he was quoted as saying. "It's not optional."
He said the treatment of women "in my culture and in the Middle East" had changed his opinions on gender issues.
"I support the woman more than I did before, because I feel like she deserves more than what they give her at the moment," he added.
Salah is an icon in Egypt after helping the country qualify for the 2018 World Cup, the first time they had reached the Finals of the event since 1990.
He was named African Footballer of the Year in 2017 and last year and was also English football's Player of the Year last year following a dazzling season with Liverpool.
He told Time he has learnt to cope with the "little bit of pressure" that comes with his elevated profile, while expressing pride at being regarded as a role model.
"To be the first Egyptian in (this) situation and no one has done this before... It's something different," he said, insisting that superstardom had not changed his lifestyle.
"I just live my life normal," he said. "Most of the time I stay at home, I don't like to go out."

Body from Sala's plane sent to Britain for identification

LONDON â€¢ Investigators recovered a body from the wreckage of a plane carrying Argentinian footballer Emiliano Sala in the English Channel on Wednesday.
The body was yesterday transported to Britain for identification, which will be done by the coroner in the county of Dorset. According to news website WalesOnline, there is "no definitive timescale on this".
Britain's Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) said that it was ending the operation to bring the crashed plane to the surface due to bad weather.
The plane was flying the 28-year-old from Nantes to Cardiff when it disappeared near the Channel island of Guernsey on Jan 21, along with 59-year-old pilot David Ibbotson.
Sala had signed for Cardiff just two days earlier for a club-record fee of Â£15 million (S$26.3 million).
His disappearance prompted outpourings of grief across the sporting world and, after local search operations were suspended, a shipwreck hunter hired by Sala's family, with funds donated by fellow footballers, found the wreckage on Sunday.
The AAIB, who then took over the operation, said on Wednesday: "In challenging conditions, the body previously seen amid the wreckage was successfully recovered.
"The operation was carried out in as dignified a way as possible and the families were kept informed of progress.
"The weather forecast is poor for the foreseeable future and so the difficult decision was taken to bring the overall operation to a close."

It added video footage captured by a remotely operated vehicle is expected to "provide valuable evidence for our safety investigation".
The AAIB intends to publish an interim report on the accident later this month.
But, while Cardiff continue to reel from the tragedy, Nantes have consulted lawyers to explore legal options to ensure Cardiff pay the transfer fee for Sala.
The Bluebirds are understood to have received a legal letter from the French club demanding payment within 10 days of a sum believed to be about Â£5 million after they did not respond to an e-mail request.
That would represent the first instalment of the fee agreed between both clubs.
Cardiff's first payment was due on Jan 26 - seven days after completing the signing - and, after it had not been received last week, Nantes took action.
With the club insisting they are not ready to deal with financial matters before a body has been found and a funeral taken place, the dispute is likely to continue.
They are believed to have obtained insurance for Sala on completing his signing before confirming their liability for the transfer fee by lodging his registration with the Football Association of Wales on the day of his flight.

MANCHESTER, United Kingdom (AFP) - Jose Mourinho says success is best measured in trophies as he prepares to take his injury-hit Manchester United squad to high-flying Liverpool on Sunday (Dec 16).
Liverpool are top of the Premier League before the weekend round of matches but have yet to win a trophy under the management of Jurgen Klopp, who has been in charge since October 2015.
The 18-times English champions have won just one prize in the past 12 years - the League Cup under Kenny Dalglish in 2012 - despite featuring in two European finals.
Mourinho won the Europa League and FA Cup in his first season at Old Trafford but ended last season empty-handed and his team are lagging 16 points behind Klopp's side in this season's title race.
"I think trophies matter, yeah," said Mourinho.
"I think it matters, especially when you have the potential to fight for trophies and when you clearly say the objective is to win the trophies.
"I think sometimes just to say it is not very intelligent. But when you have the potential you have nothing to hide.
"I don't read much but I think they (Liverpool) have said that their objective is to win the Premier League," he added.
Even though Klopp has yet to win silverware at Anfield, Mourinho acknowledges that the Liverpool manager has built a team in his own image, full of attacking intent.
By contrast, the United manager believes he is still a long way from having a team that reflects the way he wants to play.
"A football team is not just about spending the money," said Mourinho. "A football team is a little bit like a house. A house is not just about buying your furniture. You have to do work on the house and when it's ready you buy the furniture.
"You spend money on the best possible furniture and then you are ready to live in an amazing house."

INJURY TOLL

Mourinho faces taking a depleted squad to Anfield on Sunday, with several players battling to recover from the injuries that kept them out of Wednesday's Champions League defeat in Valencia.
Defender Victor Lindelof and forward Alexis Sanchez will definitely miss the game as they continue to recover from hamstring injuries.
Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay and Marcos Rojo will be assessed to ascertain whether they can return against Liverpool.
Goalkeeper David de Gea and midfielder Nemanja Matic, who were rested against Valencia, will return, but United's manager remains unsure how many players he will have to choose from.
"In Valencia, only De Gea and Matic were available to play and didn't travel by decision," he said.

LONDON (AFP) - Maurizio Sarri says he is not worried about Chelsea's looming transfer embargo, insisting he has confidence in his squad as he targets a top-four finish in the Premier League.
The Stamford Bridge club, who host London rivals West Ham on Monday, are fifth in the table, level on 63 points with fourth-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand.
Chelsea were handed a two-window transfer ban by world governing body Fifa in February over the recruitment of foreign youngsters with the club's appeal against the sanction set to be heard on April 11.
Sarri told his pre-match press conference on Friday that he was not concerned even if the appeal is not successful and that he was "very confident in my players".
"We have a lot of very good young players who are improving," he said. "If they are able to improve we will be a better team in the future. I am not worried about the market. I am confident in my players."
Manchester City and Liverpool are virtually assured of Champions League places for next season but Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are separated by just three points as they target the two remaining places.
However, Chelsea could also secure Champions League qualification by winning the Europa League and they face Slavia Prague in the last eight.
Sarri said the final weeks of the season would be tough, with away league games looming against Liverpool and United on top of their European commitments, and wants to keep his players as fresh as possible for the run-in.
"The last part of the season will be very difficult for every team," he said.
"We only have to fight and think about our matches. We have to fight until the last minute of the last match, but without looking at the other results.
"We go on the pitch with the same target, at home and away, to win. We have to play very difficult matches, especially away in the last part of the season but we only have to do our best and play to win. Then we will see."
Sarri also revealed he wants to keep striker Gonzalo Higuain at the club next season, even though the transfer ban may block the club turning his loan from Juventus into a permanent move.
Higuain has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge in January, scoring just three goals in 11 appearances, all of which came against already relegated Huddersfield and Fulham.
Asked if he wants to keep Higuain, Sarri said: "Yes of course, but it depends on the club, it depends on Juventus, it's not clear the situation at the moment.
"I think that he has to improve, physically, mentally. But I think also that he will be able to be very useful for us in the last part of the season.
"You know very well that it's not easy in the first months to play in the Premier League, it was a problem also for (Luis) Suarez in the first season at Liverpool."

LONDON (AFP) - Willian insisted he had no intention of leaving Chelsea after his superb goal sealed a 2-1 win at home to Newcastle on Saturday (Jan 12).
Newcastle, threatened with relegation from the Premier League, had seen Ciaran Clark score a surprise equaliser before half-time after an early goal from Pedro put Chelsea ahead at Stamford Bridge.
But with the Magpies making life tough for their hosts, Willian's brilliant curling shot in the 57th minute secured all three points for the Blues.
It was just his fifth goal of the season and first in the league since October but Willian told BT Sport: "I think it's always difficult in the Premier League.
"We have to be more clinical... I scored a good goal. I found the space and put the ball exactly where I wanted."
Willian has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Chelsea but he was adamant he wanted to stay at the west London club.
"My future is here at Chelsea, I don't know what you're talking about," he said.
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri was equally keen for Willian to remain a member of his squad, especially as he is deploying Eden Hazard as a striker.
"You know very well that Willian for us is a very important player," Sarri told reporters.
"In my opinion, Willian has to stay with us.
"With Eden playing as a striker we need wingers. In this moment he is a fundamental player."

Victory saw fourth-placed Chelsea open up a six-point lead over London rivals Arsenal in the race for a place in next season's Champions League.
But Sarri was unhappy with the way the Blues struggled to see off a Newcastle side stuck in the relegation zone.
"I am very happy with the result but the performance was not so good, especially between 1-0 and 1-1," he said.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez was proud of the way his players had pushed Chelsea hard but accepted they had been undone by a sublime goal.
"We conceded a goal we could avoid but after that we were fighting for every ball; these players care you could see that," Benitez told the BBC.
"We scored and then controlled the last few minutes of the first half so it's a pity but a piece of quality made the difference.
"You could see a lot of positives with the performance but no points."

While the England captain had initially been earmarked to come back into the fold next month after suffering an ankle injury on Jan 13, Kane's recovery means Spurs, with the exception of Dele Alli and Danny Rose (illness), now have a clean bill of health for their league clash at Burnley today.
Speaking ahead of their trip to Turf Moor, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino claimed the striker, who remains the club's top scorer in the league with 14 goals this term, is ready to make "a massive impact".
He said: "He is good, we need to assess him for one more training session tomorrow and then decide, but he is doing very well.
"I'm happy with him and maybe he's going to be part of the squad for Saturday. Everyone knows Harry wants to be ready as soon as possible and he does everything to make the recovery."
And, with Alli set to return from his hamstring injury in "one week, 10 days or two weeks", Pochettino feels things are shaping up nicely for his players, who can "push and achieve the things that we want".

Victory over Burnley would leave Spurs just two points behind leaders Manchester City, who play in the League Cup final this weekend, and Liverpool, who face an in-form Manchester United tomorrow.
Spurs have a testing run of fixtures - they travel to Chelsea on Wednesday before hosting Arsenal, followed by the return leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at Borussia Dortmund.
However, Pochettino said all that mattered was beating a Clarets side, who are on a seven-match unbeaten run in the league.
He added: "It's going to be tough, we needed a late goal in December to beat them at home.
"For us, Saturday is the most important game.
"If we are able to win the three points there, we will be able to see the game against Chelsea in a different way.
"We don't think about Chelsea, Arsenal or Dortmund, we only focus on Burnley because we will struggle if we're not focused 200 per cent. In football, anything can happen."

NEW YORK (AFP) - Major League Soccer (MLS) champions Atlanta United have named retired Dutch star Frank de Boer as the club's new coach, replacing Argentinian Gerardo Martino.
The 48-year-old Dutchman guided his former club Ajax to four consecutive Dutch league titles but less successful stints followed at Inter Milan and England's Crystal Palace.
In announcing last October that he was leaving Atlanta, Martino said the grind of a club campaign kept him from going home as much as he wanted. But he has been linked to the Mexican national team.
Former defender de Boer takes over on Jan 1 with Atlanta set for a pre-season match on Jan 14 and a Concacaf Champions League campaign that begins in February.
"The club's sportive ambitions, as set out in a long-term strategy to be the best in class, clearly fits my personal ambitions," he said.
"I would like to build on the current success to develop a secure, solid foundation for the club at the top of MLS and beyond."
De Boer lasted only 85 days at Inter after losing four of five Serie A matches and was gone after 10 weeks from Crystal Palace after a 0-4 start in the 2017-18 Premier League.
"Frank de Boer has a distinguished background, both as manager and player, and we're ecstatic to welcome him to our club," Atlanta president Darren Eales said.
Atlanta secured their first MLS Cup in just their second season when they beat Portland Timbers 2-0 earlier this month.
